| Bio: | ME IN A NUTSHELL: Most people find that they can't immediately get a handle on my personality and too many think that because I am quiet, I am a snob--you are mistaken. I am the kind of person who embraces their quirks whole heartedly; those who don't get it or think it's silly--it's your loss. I have a tendency to be brutally honest, cynical, but I prefer realistic--I do however, have tact, and know where the boundaries are; I am generally accepting of people, regardless of who they are or what they have done--that is what makes the world so interesting. If we were all just carbon copies of one another, think how BORING that would be! So, essentially what you see is what you get: I learned a long time ago that putting on airs gets you nowhere and whatever friendships were forged in that manner were not all that solid to begin with. MAJOR PET PEEVES: Narrow-minded people; people who spout off at the mouth with no facts to back their claims up; racists (we're all related somehow people--look it up); people who treat public places like their own little party central; snobby people; stupid people (hey, I know we're all allowed @ least one bad day/slip up, but some people are seriously abusing the privilege); mean people (grow up PLEASE); judgmental people (like YOU'RE so perfect!); self-absorbed people (this life is temporary, okay, so let's not ignore the world around you--better enjoy it while you can); people who are cruel to animals, small children, the old, infirm, etc. (there is such a thing as karma, and it WILL find you); immature people (hey I was young once, but immaturity DOES have a shelf life); people who claim their religion is the best or the most accurate (I figure as long as you have faith in SOMETHING, then you're doing alright) THINGS I ADMIRE IN PEOPLE: Honesty; being down-to-earth; humbleness; a sense of humor--the kind that can make fun of themselves and see the humor in any situation; generosity; selflessness; being able to see a silver lining in even the most dire of situations. THINGS I COULDN'T POSSIBLY LIVE WITHOUT: my family; my friends; music (all kinds); my pets; books (all kinds); laughter; Indian and Chinese food--I'm a fairly simple person BTW. MY PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY: I believe in quality of life over quantity; live for the moment as if it is your last, don't dwell on the past (it's not like you can change it anyway), and always keep your eye on the future. ODDS N' ENDS: Graduate Student majoring in Anthropology; participated in an archaeological dig in Xian, China; was [forcefully]involved in "peaceful" riot in Edinburgh during the 2005 G8 summit while on holiday; narrowly escaped death/injury during the London bombing in July 2005 (for some reason disaster manages to follow me around on vacation, and while frightening, it did make me take a step back and appreciate my life more than ever); I love loud, in-your-face music and will crank it up to the max while working on school assignments, cleaning the apartment, etc.; you will never see me dancing in public; if I had to choose one word to describe me, it would be ECCENTRIC--my HS buds used to always say that about me and I hated it, but after a decade of reflection I've come to realize that they were right (damn them); I have a tendency to want to be alone, and I like my personal space and get really frustrated when guests treat my place like it's their own (especially if they don't pick up after themselves);I can escape for hours in a good book, esp. if it is supernatural-based (fiction or otherwise);I have a tendency to become emotionally involved with characters in television/book series (as per my fic), but have a hard time dealing with my emotions around others or in public--its something I'm just not comfortable with. My personality, at least when it concerns voicing my opinions, borders on sarcastic with a hint of tact (don't look at me, I don't understand it either);I am more comfortable around animals than people (occasionally I've dealt with people who haven't fully evolved yet, so maybe this is where that came from); I'm not a party person, and have chosen to immerse myself in my studies rather than a keg, though I am perfectly capable of loosening up when I feel like it;I love to laugh, have been told I have a wicked sense of humor, I love to sing while working on my computer (which most likely annoys the hell outta my neighbor, but I'll keep doing it until they officially complain); I am a total night owl and am not a morning person by any means, and I have the annoying habit of procrastinating until the 11th hour; other than that, I usually suck at bios, so sorry :) | |||||
